Researchers: Dr Ivan Lin and Ms Kim Ryder
Low back pain (LBP) is the number one cause of disability in Australia and Aboriginal Australians are more likely to have back issues.
This project aimed to reduce the burden of LBP amongst Aboriginal people in WA’s Midwest and was a partnership between WACRH, the Geraldton Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (GRAMS), and Curtin University. The people involved were Ivan Lin, Kim Ryder, Juli Coffin, Charmaine Green, Eric Dalgety, Brian (Troy) Scott, Leon Straker, Anne Smith and Peter O’Sullivan. A number of community members and staff of GRAMS also participated. Hannah Jackson assisted with brochure development.
The information below was developed to help Aboriginal people manage their low back pain.
