Student Support Officer
Being away from home can add other issues that students have to get used to on a clinical placement.
WACRH has a dedicated Student Support Officer who is available to students who might want to talk to someone other than their clinical supervisor. This is not a counselling service and students can be referred to other services as required.
Student Meeting Space
We run an inter-professional Student Meeting Space on a fortnightly basis. This program takes place as a Friday afternoon tutorial with other students studying in Geraldton or on placement with other organisations also able to attend. This is a great chance to consolidate your learning and to network with other students, and usually finishes off with pizza!
You will access Simulation Education in our EdSIM Centre to support your clinical experiences. This may include basic life support training, practicing new skills before you use them with clients or involve some very real life scenarios in problem-based learning.
WACRH students are encouraged to become part of the community; the Community Volunteering Program provides opportunities for students to take part of activities such as Midnight Basketball or PCYC activities for youth.
