A new, highly engaging online course, Speaking Out Against Disrespect, is now available to support individuals and organisations to build safer, more respectful workplaces and communities.

Suitable for everyone, including staff, leaders, community members and organisations across all sectors, this free one-hour course equips participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to disrespectful behaviour and become active bystanders. While it supports organisations involved in the Community Respect and Equality (CRE) initiative, the course is broadly applicable and relevant to anyone wanting to create positive change.

This updated course has been redeveloped using the latest research and contemporary approaches to bystander intervention. It moves beyond traditional training by offering an interactive, practical learning experience that helps participants apply techniques in real-world situations.

A key strength of the course is its focus on flexible, personalised responses. Participants learn a range of evidence-based strategies that can be adapted not only to different situations, but also to their own communication style, personality and level of confidence. This means individuals can respond to challenging situations in ways that feel authentic, safe and effective for them.

The course explores how everyday behaviours and attitudes contribute to broader issues such as inequality, disrespect and family violence, and empowers participants to take meaningful, proactive action. By building confidence to speak up, the training supports positive cultural change within workplaces and the wider community.

Whether you’re a professional, volunteer, leader or community member, this course offers practical tools that can be used both at work and in everyday life.

This is a highly valuable and relevant course for anyone wanting to build respectful environments and make a real difference, participants are strongly encouraged to take part.
